The fern frond—an iconic symbol of growth, resilience, and the unique landscape of Aotearoa—captures FERNZ’s mission to partner with communities to identify and address inequities. Like a fern unfurling layer by layer, FERNZ works alongside communities to gradually uncover and tackle the barriers to equity.

Each part of the frond marks stages of progress: the larger, more prominent fronds at the base signify the starting point, where inequities are most pronounced. As the fronds move upward and become smaller, they illustrate the positive impact of our collective efforts, showing how inequities lessen over time. The balanced, strong fronds on each side reflect our vision of a society where everyone has equitable rights that empower them to live full, healthy, and happy lives.
