Our Kaupapa (Our History and What We Do)

Established in December 2023, the FERNZ Wellington (Karori) Community Action Group (CAG) is committed to identifying and addressing equity-based issues within the Wellington community.

Our mission is to advocate for solutions that foster inclusivity and create lasting change.

Monthly Meetings

We meet monthly at various accessible venues in Karori, providing a space for open discussion and collaborative problem-solving.

Together, we focus on identifying community challenges and determining the most effective course of action.

Achievements and Engagement

Since its inception, the group has:

  • Successfully advocated for improved accessibility at the Karori Farmers Market.
  • Built strong partnerships with local businesses to enhance community collaboration.
  • Championed better accessibility at a local venue to support inclusivity.

To further connect with the community, the Wellington CAG had  a presence at the Karori Farmers Market on December 7th 2024.

This provides an opportunity to highlight the group’s work, engage with local residents, and raise awareness about ongoing initiatives.

Join us as we continue to work toward a more inclusive and equitable Wellington for everyone.

At the heart of the FERNZ Wellington Community Action Group (CAG) are our meetings, which are more than just a space to get work done—they’re a chance to connect, recharge, and build lasting relationships in the Karori community.

Every meeting is held at a different accessible venue in Karori, offering a welcoming space to discuss community issues and plan actions. But our meetings go beyond the work. We always take time for afternoon tea, share laughs, and enjoy each other's company. These moments of connection have fostered strong friendships and a genuine sense of care among members.

This bond is reflected in the way we approach our work. With enthusiasm and teamwork, we tackle challenges, advocate for change, and celebrate successes side by side.

Whether we’re addressing local accessibility issues or working on broader equity-based initiatives, our meetings are where ideas turn into action.

Our gatherings are about more than achieving goals—they’re about building a connected, supportive community. If you’re passionate about making a difference, advocating for inclusivity, and contributing to positive change in Wellington, we’d love for you to join us.

Together, we’re creating a more inclusive and equitable Wellington—one meeting, one action, and one step at a time.
